This is wonderful, cheerful and so darn cute. I love how you have the glow on the skin of the pumpkin and the straw hair on it's head. Such a cute hat too. This one makes me smile.

You recreate light and the effects of light so fantastically well. This looks just great. I guess that as I am trying my pumpkin soup recipe this weekend I shall have to do lantern carving with my boys. Picture to follow if it all works out ok. Seems like I am missing out on all the hallowe'en spookiness.

This was done from a hdr photo by bobbycleod

Thanks everyone for the great comments, I had fun doing this one, but was mad at myself because I forgot to check the animation box and lost my layers, lol, grrrr, I specifically did it in shi so I could have the layers saved, and it took me a while to get back into this cause it is so hard to work on these when you lose your layers in the save...oh well I have to remember to be more careful.

Wow! Starz.
Those eyes just see right into you. A fearsome sight to behold as an attacker. Great drawing.
HDR is such a cool technique.
I would love to work at that sometime but it's time that evades me at the moment. I am just reading up on how to produce an HDR image. So much definition.

Gosh, imagine that view. What an amazing castle and I love how it is sitting right at the edge of the hill it sits on. They are beautiful with all the different interesting sections to it. Love the rock formation and view from which you drew this. The water is amazing and the glare of the sky really frames this amazing castle. I even love how the shadow of the land/hills/mountains reflects on the water. The branches righ in front sets the height for me...wonderful drawing.

The one thing I love about studio three is that the last drawn picture stays on view a while. Starz's Vader was a gem but was very ably replaced by Graf's Joker. I could have happily viewed them for weeks. Now Gillie is back after working hard on her reunion stuff and takes the spot with an awesome flamingo. I shall not tire of seeing this either. Great work, adorable chick. Good to see you back.

thanks everyone! I appreciate the great things you all have said! I worked hard on this one, and I am pleased. I just wish the layers would save between working on it. Life would be so much easier doing these complicated drawings...I am planning on doing a couple more screenshots from the game, not sure about starwars though..we shall see..again thanks everyone so much.

This is amazing Terry. I grew up with the old Star Wars movies and they are still some of most favorites all time series. You have really outdone yourself with this one and I have only one word to say....AWESOME!

YAY! I always have a little GGA contest running in my head, wondering what will get it this week. I got it right. This is so flippin' fantastic and so worthy of the award. Well done Starz. Good choice CMB. Bet it was agony choosing though huh? Glad I will never have to make these decisions. Hehe.

Thank you for all of your lovely comments....I guess I don't mind if it stays here but Starz is a hard act to follow and I was still a little dissapointed on how this turned out. I would like to add to it, but at this time I am not sure what. Maybe just somemore detailing in her dress and the brick wall and better shadows. Thanks though everyone, you are all such inspirations

I deleted my comment by mistake so here goes again. Great image, I love the draped skirt of her beautiful dress and the stone wall, and her round limbs and "searching" expression!!!
KuteDymples @ Thursday, August 21st 2008, 7:50 AM
Thank you so much for your nice comment, I fell in love with this image but when I was finished it didn't quite meet my expectations. I guess it is because my drawing has been on the backburner with having my daughter here for the last two weeks. She's leaving today, hopefully I can put a lot more effort into it.

qtgillie @ Thursday, August 21st 2008, 10:59 AM
This is so cute, Kute! I love the foot which seems to be mimicing the fact that she is very shy, illustrated by the hat over her face. Also the flwers on her bodice being similar to the one she holds in her hand. The stone wall is also nice and the shadows help to ancher her well. Anotehr thing, I believe you have also done a great job showing how young she is by the baby fat type looking arms. OH and the gathering of the skirt is also nicely done. Bravo Kute!
REECREATIVEDESIGNS @ Thursday, August 21st 2008, 6:14 PM
I think this is just darling. I love her whole outfit with that pretty flower in hand. Love the way she is looking down. She looks like the perfect little girl wh ois distracted by something she is looking at. Love the brick wall too..very cute and so well done. Very nice!

STARZSHINE @ Monday, August 25th 2008, 7:04 PM
Oh Kute, you're making me feel bad, don't put your work down! this is adorable, she is precious and it is worthy of being here. Can't compare one style against another, apple to oranges, this is fun and loose and has a watercolor feel to it, it is wonderful!, believe me, you are so talented no need to compare. I envy the way you can do your work so delicately and soft at times, mine are just sometimes too ya,, I get afraid to be "suggestive" I think mine looks like 3rd grade fingerpainting when I do, this is beautiful, hold your head up! It is terrific!
KuteDymples @ Tuesday, August 26th 2008, 10:28 AM
Not trying to make you feel bad at all Starz, that was meant to be a compliment to your excellent work. I aspire to be more "anal" in my art but just haven't gotten there yet. I was think my colors are a little too washed out in this one but that may be just my view as well. I love such saturated colors. I appreciate such high compliments on this piece though. My favorite thing about the reference picture was the way the little girl was standing and that it was a challenge to do the pose. Her dress originally was a plaid with more stripey plaid on the skirt part, but there was no way I could have gotten that detail right so I just changed it a bit.
StGeorgeOfEngland @ Wednesday, August 27th 2008, 3:24 AM
You girls beat yourselves up too much.
Kute, this is worthy of Studio 3 so go easy on yourself. You have some lovely detail in here and after reading your comment it is commendable that you have the skill to change something from your original reference. Why indeed do a straight copy every time? I know what you mean about following Starz but as she said apples to oranges. Both gorgeous fruits but so totally different. Keep up your good work.
Now Starz. What's this crud about third grade finger painting? If you were to grace us with something you did in a looser style you sure as heck would get the appreciation you deserve. Grace tried it and admitted that she found it hard to loosen up. The results, however were good. You have an excellent, almost photographic style which amazes me. Maybe you should try and show us something loose.
By the way. I aspire to third grade finger painting. Hehe. I find myself wanting to start a draw in Studio 1 then look at what's there and the idea goes. I am finding my first draw here a very daunting prospect.
Now then you two. You've been told. I am away from here for most of the next month and I expect to see you girls with a little more faith in your work or attempts when I return. Oooh, I sound like a bossy teacher don't I?
KuteDymples @ Thursday, August 28th 2008, 7:29 PM
Ahhhh! I am going to stand in the corner now George....I will be there when you return. No actually the more I look at this the more it doesn't seem as bad as I thought. Thanks for your wonderful perspective. It does mean a lot to me to read everyones comments. I know I need to have more faith in myself sometimes. I did just upload a picture in the "upload" studio that I did on queeky and I only uploaded it to prove a point to myself that I was really amazed what I did with their simple tools there. I was happy with that one right off. Thanks again everyone! Smiling from ear to ear!

Oh my, this is so beautiful. The lace and how you've highlighted the stiches of this fine shawl/upper part of her clothing is gorgeous. The lips and hat are to die for. Beautiful the way her eyes show through the sheer portion of this stunning hat. I've always loved hats on women and what a stunning woman she is. Really beautiful work here...I'm enjoying your drawings.

I have missed your work here as I have so many others that seem to have left a while.
Having just started drawing again myself, I see this and wonder if I should bother at all. Hehe.
Of course I know that I will bother because I enjoy it so much. If we were all of this calibre then nobody would admire this work as we do.
There is so much to admire here.
STARZSHINE @ Wednesday, August 13th 2008, 9:23 PM
Thanks everyone, I don't know why, but every now and again I get into these moods where I feel as though I am sitting still, and it makes it hard for me to do my art, I want to, but when I pick up the stylus, I stop and, not right now, I just am not feeling it..I have probably gone through countless stages in my life where I have laid aside my art and pursued some other passion with gusto. Many times there have been years and even decades where I couldn't bring myself to sit and draw, even though I knew I could...I was so thankful for sketchfu because it brought art back into my life with out the expense and the mess that art often entails, and suddenly I felt as though I had been reborn again. Then I found other sites and of course here, and again I felt a new stirring..but then I got to feel as though again I am standing still, so I look for other avenues with which to put my creative juices to use. But I realize that I must continue to pursue my drawing or loose a big part of my life that I was luckily gifted to. So, I will force myself because I know in the long run I will be the better for if I am gone at times it is just that pesky bug eating away at me, unrest, and know that I miss you all and appreciate you and the friendship that has been so wonderfully bestowed upon me, and for that I am so grateful. So I know I am not the best with comments, lol, I can draw, but just can't write, know that I look at all the art you do, and I love each and every piece, but am not the best at putting my feelings for them down on paper. You all are so talented and gifted, and it has been a great pleasure to get to know you all, THANKS FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!-TERRY

Oh Terry, this is just divine! You really know how to pick your subjects and you are the master of depicting them. I love the lacy shawl/blouse with its delicate chalkiness.
I prefer your crop to the original with the diagonal sweep almost filling the canvas. So glad to have you back with us however infrequently that might be. You are too hard on yourself about the comments I'm always thrilled to hear from you. I share your feelings about Fu and Ginkgo and the wonderful friends we've made along the way. You will always have a special place in my heart.
