We didn't get a real assignment, we may do what we want. And I hope digital art will get some credits on my art school so I'll overload them with it :)

I was wondering how your art school instructors felt about digital art. Some purists won't accept it.

Beautiful. What is the assignment?

Sometimes I wonder if a person can learn to have the sense of colour you have...or if you're just born with it. I really don't know of anyone who uses colour better than you do.

This a funny two-year old oekaki that I always wanted to elaborate on if I could find the time. That time is now. ;)

Wow, I didn't feel that I changed the picture much until I looked at the original again. :o

It appears smoother now, I assume thats what you were after leo? It is amazing how 'white' has all those other colours incorporated into it in this draw. I love how you made his hair softer looking, that for me, is much nicer. Your skin tones are quite beautiful and so rich.. another lovely piece of work! I could look at this for hours and still see new things. :D

His expression is priceless. He looks so very pleased with his toy. At the same time, you've captured that inward-looking, introspective aspect a person's face takes on when they are listening intently to something. (I live in a house with a SERIOUS audiophile, so I have seen that expression often) The subtle reds and greens in your skin tones are so beautiful.

hhehheh, coool... That lighting on him is fantastic! And the form and the way you painted him-- it's all really excellent :)

something I find distracting though ('cause I'm a nitpicker), is his hand-- it seems like for him to be able to have it in that position, his elbow would been to be waay back. it looks uncomfortable-- but I don't think it's anything you can really change, because of how it's cropped now.

Really love his cheekbone, especially. Excellent job

*Falls in love with this draw* Oh Bake I really do love this. The different planes that create such depth are fantastic to look at and appreciate. You play so well with soft light and shading, to give the whole draw such a subtle gentle feel, like a dream fantasy world that I would love to visit!
I also noticed that you lean towards the warmer tones mostly in your draws..even warm blues at times, is that something you aim to do or just an unconscious happy outcome?
How the near tree frames this, draws the eye right in, lovely work!

This draw inspires me..I need now to draw something fantasy..*goes off to have a think* :D

*stands in line*....I'm in love toooo! There's so much in this piece that I love and of course, I'm partial to skys/clouds. BEAUTIFUL SKY!! The colors and cloud shapes just melt me away......

Aaaahhhhh..Ok, I'm back. The distance is so well achieved and I love the flowers growing up the side of the rock!
Very beautiful!! =)
vere @ Tuesday, September 18th 2007, 1:23 PM
This drawing reminds me of a delicately crafted desert. I want to eat it.

The way the colors droop off the tree and the amazing texture of the stones and the clouds and aghh. All of it is so awesome.

What a gift you have. Viewing your work brings me such happiness as I know it does to whoever sees it. As I sat looking at this I realized that there is something of the Pueblo Cliff dwelling feel to it. The places where the 'Anasazi' built their homes right into the beautiful rocks of the southwest US states a 1,000 years ago. The colours in this remind me of those rocks. See?

GOLDEN GINKGO AWARD for w/e December 15, 2007. Congratulations!

I drew this on db and thought oo it may look ok in colour so here it is. I did work from a ref but made little changes here and there. :D

Once upon a time using a ref was the most interesting thing for me to do, but now I feel myself leaning towards my own mental images for my work..is this a natural progression?? I got quite fed-up working on this..how odd is that?..lol

Fantastic Suzie! When I saw the first version of this it was just jaw dropping and now to see it with colour it's just as great! I love the wooden look on the roof looks quite real and natural how it's decaying a bit. The water is always something you have seemed to have mastered Suzie. I love the trees.. they are fantastic. This looks near real, how you have coloured it.. everything definitely stand out. It almost has that model look to it that. That you could make this with little models at home. I know that you have been enjoying great work form your mind, this is just a treat to see even if it's from a ref. Amazing work as always Suzie, too bad about the animation eh.

This does look like a photograph! I absolutely LOVE this, I think my favorite part is the water, it looks so real. The flowers add just the right amount of color, it's just gorgeous. Oh and the sky and clouds are excellent, I think that this has to be my favorite now!

Wow it looks great in color! I love your attention to detail and also the way you did the sky and the water. I also think I'm starting to paint from my mind rather than references but I often use them when I need help getting something to look like... well something. Excellent work on this, its amazing.

DID YOU GO HERE!! :D It must be a picture perfect place and this does a photo justice! Beautiful work, Suzie..really so neat and precise and every stroke perfectly place, right down to the little door mat. EXCELLENT! ALmost looks Mediterranean. Wish I was there right now instead of 18 degrees, 10 inches of snow and a nor'easter coming tomorrow. We can dream, right!

All along I was thinking this was Italy or Greece or somewhere in the Mediterranean...and it's England! It must be in the SOUTH of England, at least? I ADORE the rock wall and your shadows are so beautifully done...the texture of the building and omigosh...the shimmering water! Is that inviting or what? I want to jump in, swim out to the boat, hoist the sails and away. Absolutely lovely. I know it was a struggle to make yourself follow a ref for such a major piece but the result is well worth the effort, Suzie. Congrats.
Swandieve @ Saturday, December 15th 2007, 6:31 PM

Yes, this is extraordinary! I can't pick out any suggestions! I'm in love with how you did the clouds (as wlel as the gradiented sky behind, perfect!), and the texture that you've used everywhere blends in so seamlessly and well. Your shading is awesome, I love the shadow next to the wall in the bottom-middle. And your style of using fine lines works perfectly with this, giving it a presence that's quite unlike the original photograph, I'm sure.

I think this is a great example of showing how working from a photograph can work, not for picture-perfect photorealism, but taking the photo to the next level of interpretation. Now instead of just seeing a picture from somebody's travels, we're looking into how YOU feel about this picture, and what it means to you, the artist. (In that we see what amount of care you put into which parts, and also your brain leaves out some parts of the original photograph that you subconsciously disliked.)

Kudos! Also, great composition. Even if the original photograph already had this composition, yay you for picking up on it.

"everything stops for tea . . ." - I can't remember the rest of the song but that line jumped straight into my mind when i saw this. How on earth did you manage to get the glaze to gleam like that? Fabulous use of colours to create that lovely orange. I'm wondering why you chose that shape canvas - the teapot fits very snugly in the bottom half but there is something about all that black space above it - I can't quite put my finger on . . .

Of course I should have read the title . . .

Three things so close to my heart; pottery, teapots and beautiful glazes! *sips some Tetleys*

The colouration in both the highlight and shadowed portions of this are stunningly beautiful. I was with HF on the oblong canvas making it look like a painting. But, I gotta say, I like the steam, too.

Very nice Fubbles. This looks just like the teapot I did at 2draw accept mine was blue and it had forgetmenots in it and the lid was on the table and it was facing the other direction. Otherwise they are exactly alike!! hee hee.

Keep on drawing...they are all so good.

This is so wonderfully good!!! I LOVE it! Its such a cozy looking homey teapot, but something about the way the lid being cracked like that makes me thing something is crawling out of it... lol only kidding of course! It looks done to me, and personally I like the canvas shape. Somehow this way it looks more like a painting an less like a decorative kitchen tile.

Did you use a ref' pic' for this or is it from your imagination?

I love tea pots..with Yorkshire tea in them too..lol

I used a ref pic, i rarely do my own style.Im too lazy and unimaginative lol I used to draw things upside down alot at other sites and draw more my own stuff but the older ive got, the more i like drawing from photo's and trying to capture photo realism, theres some different stuff at sketchfu i did, i drew a catfish , half cat and half fish and a mona-duncan, half mona lisa and half duncan somebody who draws there :p

The idea of drawing upside down is great! It makes you look at what IS there and not what you THINK is there. Tis a common mistake that many people make when drawing faces I find. We should do a series of 'Up-side-down' draws in studio one for some fun and learning..would be great!

Suzie, I almost chose that for a Jam topic one time! We did it in a portrait class I took. ~grace
