I have to post this because even though there are still 21 days before the program will automatically delete it, I'm worried I'll forget during the next 3 weeks. It's so fabulous, Jester.

I miss George. Martin Scorsese made a really good movie about him.

Awesome as usual. I don't believe I've see the movie you are refering to in this drawing. Cool image though.

Mix sitting in lap...Max moves...drawing not finished. Fun to try drawing from life, though.

unfinished drawings... I've been having a hard time starting drawings. Either case, dogs are awesome. However I don't know if I'm personally willing to take the responsiblity of taking care of a dog.
grace @ Tuesday, September 16th 2014, 2:14 AM
It's good practice if you're ever thinking of having kids. Dogs are way easier and you don't have to pay for college.

KuteDymples @ Saturday, November 8th 2008, 9:16 PM
This is great, it looks so much like a photograph. They sure look comfortable. Lovely QT!
jpjp1052 @ Saturday, November 8th 2008, 9:27 PM
They look so comfy. Great draw.
qtgillie @ Saturday, November 8th 2008, 9:36 PM
No, they are not known to me. I can't even remember where I got the pic from. Just looked fun to do.
sparky7 @ Saturday, November 8th 2008, 10:25 PM
"WOW"!! This picture is just so beautiful.....I love everything about it!! Life without "dogs" would be so boring....they are truly "man's best friend". This is a fantastic painting "qtgillie"!! :)
REECREATIVEDESIGNS @ Sunday, November 9th 2008, 12:00 AM
This is just darling. There's nothing like cuddling with our best friend. I love the light, the way it is coming through on to the floor and top of couch. This is such a wonderful drawing, love this one of yours.
ptrice @ Sunday, November 9th 2008, 1:23 AM
:D - I love it! Home from school sick, maybe, watching tv from the couch...
gel_o @ Sunday, November 9th 2008, 8:08 AM
Home sweet home and just the way it should be QT. This reminds us of our younger years and when life was simpler. I especially love the way the lights illuminate the whole scene. Fantastic job!
Meno @ Sunday, November 9th 2008, 9:07 AM
They love each other! Gillie, this is perfect ... how the doggie is happily melted into the blankie-covered sofa, and his BFF nestled against him ... wonderful tilt of the head and the chin cupped just so; and the arm, with the crooked wrist, nestled in the covers ... perfection!
StGeorgeOfEngland @ Sunday, November 9th 2008, 10:26 AM
What a lovely picture. The skin tones and the way the light hits the upper arm is are just great. They both look like they wouldn't move all day.
Fuzzy @ Sunday, November 9th 2008, 11:34 AM
Awww this is what my daughter always does with her doggie, they are the best of friends. I love how snuggled and warm they look laying there, very sweet picture.
grace @ Sunday, November 9th 2008, 11:58 AM
Love the burnt sienna and cobalt together. Wonderful position of head in hand and sense of girlhood dreaming. Such a sweet, cozy scene.

STARZSHINE @ Monday, November 10th 2008, 12:33 PM
great work here Laura! one of your best, you are learning the subtle paint techniques of a wash, and this is stunning work.
Firebird @ Monday, November 10th 2008, 1:17 PM
Fantastic..I love the magic of this moment. The light also softens the image...perfectly drawn.

This is a portrait I did of my best friend. I've always loved this picture of her, she's got such a vulnerable look in her eyes but at the same time she looks like she could kill someone =P

Oh I just noticed some adjustments I need to make.. oh I'll fix them later. Edit: Ok done. wait... no lol jk. DONE.
ptrice @ Friday, August 22nd 2008, 8:05 AM
Lovely portrait, that jacket looks so real too -
StGeorgeOfEngland @ Friday, August 22nd 2008, 8:08 AM
This is really very good. You have captured a personality very well and I don't think you needed to tell us what she was like, we can see it. So much detail in this. The eyes are perfect, the hair and fur, even down to the zipper, great work.
Two questions;
What do you feel you need to change?
Do you not think this worthy of studio three?
I cannot answer either as I am not an accomplished artist like many here and I also do not know just how good something has to be for studio three.
Trish333 @ Friday, August 22nd 2008, 8:40 AM
This is an awesome draw....everything about it is perfect, I love her hair, the jacket, her face.....I just love it!
BabsBlueEyes @ Friday, August 22nd 2008, 9:12 AM
This is an incrediable portrait. You are a very talanted person. I echo everyones comments before me.
Suntan @ Friday, August 22nd 2008, 9:53 AM
I think this is your best work ever!! Remember when you said you couldn't do people? Well, now..look what happened!

Everything gorgeous, subject, work, textures, palette! This is a fabulous piece of work. Bravo.
Meno @ Friday, August 22nd 2008, 11:07 AM
It's gorgeous. Love all the earth tones together. She has a wonderful face!
qtgillie @ Friday, August 22nd 2008, 11:35 AM
OMG...this is amazing! The emotion, the colours, the blending and the shading and that look! She looks so unhappy. Is there a story behind this?
Kathy @ Friday, August 22nd 2008, 11:39 AM
Wonderful job! The fur on her coat is done so well, and the shine on the zipper is great. Her hair is very realistic, and well the whole portrait is really really good!
STARZSHINE @ Friday, August 22nd 2008, 2:32 PM
Wow! this is your finest work! incredible, the best I have seen in a long time, just beautiful. Take a bow, young lady, this is superb! I love everything about it. This could easily have been a commissioned oil painting, for which you would have been well compensated! I know you are proud, and your girlfriend should be honored! amazing work!
Fuzzy @ Friday, August 22nd 2008, 7:09 PM
That is so beautiful, I love the look in her eyes and the color of her lips, so perfect.
REECREATIVEDESIGNS @ Friday, August 22nd 2008, 8:17 PM
I love the eyes, the shape and the way they are looking to the corner. They really have an attitude to them. Love the way you did her hair and the jacket fur. Great zipper too! Looks like a jacket my daughter has, won't mention the teenager brand. The golden browns are wonderful, wow.
KuteDymples @ Saturday, August 23rd 2008, 12:32 AM
So very beautiful and extremely well done! I agree with all the comments before mine. I would have been very proud to call this my own work. Excellent!
sparky7 @ Saturday, August 23rd 2008, 3:46 AM
This is "AWESOME"!!! She looks like somebody that I know. It's that cute little "elf" nose....."LOL"!!
katski @ Saturday, August 23rd 2008, 5:11 AM
Simply amazing, so realistic your friend is going to love having this wonderful picture of herself .
horsefeather @ Saturday, August 23rd 2008, 10:36 AM
O.O Wow... I am humbled by all of your comments. I think this is a whole new level of happy! George, in answer to your questions; There are just a few irregularities here and there that I know will haunt my in my sleep if I don't change them, and also there are some minor adjustments needed so the likeness is better. As for not being in Studio 3... I wasn't anticipating to put so much effort into this ;) Thankyou everyone, your comments are so uplifiting! =D
MissA_sketches @ Saturday, August 23rd 2008, 12:59 PM
Love what you did here! The lady and the draw are both beautiful!
StGeorgeOfEngland @ Saturday, August 23rd 2008, 4:24 PM
Pfffffffffffft irregularities. Ok, I do understand that you have to be happy with it but it sure as heck looks good to the rest of us.

OOo Jo, how beautiful your friend is, does she like this as we all do?
Beautiful pallet yet you kept it 'real' too. The hair texture along the smooth soft skin with such vibrant alive colours, and those wonderfully formed lips really give this some serious ZING..Lovely work!! :D

Too cute, Kathy! We just boarded a little Yorkie about this size. She weighs less than 3 pounds but has no idea how small she is. She kept trying to get a big Lab to play with her.
