Hello and Welcome.
This website was created in the hope that it will become a community where artists learn and practice using the resident digital graphic applets. It's also a place where they are welcome to showcase their talent and skill in a supportive and civilized atmosphere--a gathering place for a diverse group of people and artistic styles.
Guidelines:
- It's a good idea to read through the FAQ's before you begin. And then read them again after you've used the site for awhile.
- Please compose your comments about another artist's work in the form of a constructive criticism. If someone specifies that they do not want public critiques, kindly respect that wish.
- Don't say anything to another artist in the Comments section that you think might anger or upset them. If a member consistently ignores this request they will be asked to go elsewhere.
- Give some thought to your critiques. Try to consider the merit of work based on the style in which it was created.
- Example 1: Someone has posted a loose, impressionistic or expressionistic drawing. Rather than pointing out that the anatomy or other details aren't accurate, consider that the style is not about accuracy.
- Example 2: Someone posts a flawless, photorealism drawing. Don't tell them you think they should be working in a style you prefer to photorealism. Their work is not based on what you prefer.
- If another artist's work has contributed to your piece, you may wish to give them credit with a link to a reference picture. (Instructions on how to do that are in the niftyToo usage link.) You are responsible for your own ethical behavior or lack thereof.
- Your option for uploading will only stay enabled if it is not abused. It is solely intended for your own, original artwork. Please, DO NOT USE THE FEATURE TO UPLOAD ANOTHER ARTIST'S WORK. Misuse will result in the loss of your uploading privileges.
- About work featuring Mature Content: For the time being we will not try to make any specific rulings about what you may or may not draw since this is an adult website. Please mark anything that contains graphic violence, nudity or erotica as 'Adult Content' in consideration of non-member viewers who may not be adult.
- Feedback and questions on site and applet usage are welcome. We hope to be able to keep the site growing and changing in response to what the contributors want.
- You are welcome to invite other artists to register on this site. If they or their work is not known to us, we may ask them to submit a link to samples of their artwork before we agree to their membership.
- Please don't advertise this site in a public forum on another drawing site. Some site owners respond to that very negatively. We hope that what we offer is unique in a way that will make you want to spend time here and that there is room in your life and schedule to include The Floating Ginkgo from time to time.
